NGK Insulators Opens US Company

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 2 -- NGK Insulators Ltd. (Japan) has formed a new US company, NGK Electronics USA Inc., with headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif., to function as the marketing and sales arm of its sister companies NGK Locke, Electronics Div. (raw materials and ceramic substrates), FM Industries (modules manufacturing for semiconductor equipment) and Optobahn Corp. (optical parallel interconnects and fiber arrays).

NGK Electronics USA will provide resources to expand the North American market for NGK Insulators Ltd. in fiber optic arrays and ceramic modules and components. Sales and marketing functions for Optical Parallel Interconnects and Optical Fiber Arrays were transferred from Optobahn Corp. (Torrance, Calif.) to NGK Electronics USA Inc. as of July 1.
Optobahn's sales offices in New Jersey and Los Angeles will remain unchanged and will operate as the new company's sales branches. Optobahn Corp. will remain the NGK Insulators subsidiary for research and development of optoelectronic components.
