Lehigh Optical Center Undaunted by Agere Cutbacks
BETHLEHEM, Pa., August 27 -- Agere Systems' decision to ax its troubled optoelectronics business won't deter plans to create a major optical research center at Lehigh University, state and school officials said.
David Williams, Lehigh's vice provost for research, said, "If Agere were to disappear, the center would not disappear. We remain very committed to the optoelectronics area."
