Bob Rhoades, inventor and Fusion UV's fiber optic sales engineer, said the first device may create markets for UV curing, especially in applications where reducing heat on the filament substrate was too costly. "There are possible cost reductions for optical fiber production, fiber coloring and ribbon matrix applications," he said.
In addition to industrial thread, the applications for the second patent include any filament-type substrate, such as optical fiber coloring, wire and cable coating, composite fiberglass filament and roving sizing and coatings, the company said.
