Corning to Provide Chinese Network Fiber
CORNING, N.Y., Oct. 4 -- Guangdong Unicom, a China Unicom regional operator, has selected Corning SMF-28(R) optical fiber for China Unicom's first regional and provincial network in the Guangdong province.
Corning will supply more than 140,000 kilometers of SMF-28 fiber -- almost 70 percent of the total fiber in the project, which will extend more than 7,000 route kilometers throughout the Guangdong province.
The Guangdong network, part of China Unicom's continued nationwide network build, will connect the province's largest cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai. China Unicom, one of the largest network operators in China, is building a 150,000-kilometer national network in major Chinese cities.
