Alcatel CIT to Further Reduce Work Force

PARIS, Oct. 25 -- Alcatel CIT, the main French subsidiary of the Alcatel Group, announced it will reduce its staff by 1,060 due to the continued weakening of global telecom markets. The company said it expects to have about 7,000 employees at the end of 2003.

This announcement is part of restructuring measures recently announced by the Alcatel Group.
