Luxell, Hyundai LCD to Develop OLED Displays
ICHEON, Korea, and TORONTO, Dec. 6 -- Hyundai LCD Inc. and Luxell Technologies Inc. have announced a joint product initiative to incorporate Hyundai's organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology and Luxell's Black Layer contrast enhancement technology for mobile phone, PDA, automotive and other applications. The first production pilot scale prototype, a 2.1-inch Black Layer monochrome passive matrix OLED display, is expected to be available in Spring 2003.
No other terms were disclosed.
Hyundai LCD is now producing color STN LCDs and actively developing TFT LCDs and OLED products, which are expected to expand its application areas into digital cameras, PDAs and other handheld devices. Hyundai LCD is planning mass production of color active matrix OLED displays by 2004.
