Alfalight Receives Third-Round Funding
MADISON, Wis., Dec. 10 -- Laser diode developer Alfalight Inc. announced it has received $15 million in its third round of venture funding. This funding round, which brings the total investment to $49.1 million, was led by Arch Ventures Partners in Chicago, Ill., and Advanced Technology Ventures in Palo Alto, Calif., and complimented by Alfalight's existing investors: EDF of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Venture Investors LLC of Madison; CenterPoint Ventures of Texas; Infrastructure Fund of Menlo Park, Calif.; and the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, of Madison.
Alfalight is developing several high-power diode laser products targeting applications in the telecommunications, military and industrial industries. Its products are based on intellectual property (IP) that is exclusively licensed from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, along with internally generated IP. They are targeting laser diode applications that use their aluminum-free technology.
