Optical Solutions Receives Funding

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 13 -- Optical Solutions Inc., a provider of fiber optic communications systems for the local access market, announced it has received funding from Intel Capital. This new investment from Intel Capital caps the company's Series F financing, with a total $24 million raised in the round.

Optical Solutions CFO James Stewar said the company will use the financing to deploy its FiberPath 400 system in communities across North America. The FiberPath 400 system is based on a passive optical network (PON) architecture for delivering converged broadband services.
