Guangdong Telecom Selects Alcatel Network

PARIS, Dec. 23 -- Alcatel announced it has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract by Guangdong Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom Group. The contract was won through Alcatel Shanghai Bell, Alcatel's flagship Chinese company.

Alcatel will provide its 7670 routing switch platform (RSP) and 7470 multiservice platform to Guangdong Telecom for its digital data network/frame relay expansion. As a result of the contract, Guangdong Telecom will be the first carrier in Asia to deploy the new g.SHDSL interface on the Alcatel 7670 RSP.
