Optomec to Develop Abrasion Repair Technology
Under a contract from the Naval Air Systems Command, Optomec Inc. will use its Laser Engineered Net Shaping technology to develop a technique for leading-edge rollover abrasion on T700 US Navy aircraft engine parts. The shaping process would allow users to rapidly and cost-effectively add material to worn or fractured surfaces, rather than replacing them. The company, based in Albuquerque, N.M., will participate in the development as part of the Radian Milparts consortium.
