Candela Corp. Acquires Applied Optronics
WAYLAND, Mass., Jan. 9 -- Candela Corp. announced it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Applied Optronics, the diode division of Schwartz Electro-Optics Inc., for approximately $1.2 million in cash.
Applied Optronics is a manufacturer of high-powered, pulsed and CW lasers and is a component supplier to the OEM market, serving industries in the military, medical, industrial, research and robotics fields. Applied Optronics is a supplier of the diodes for Candela's Smoothbeam diode laser system, which was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of periorbital wrinkles and of acne.
