DRS Awarded Army Infrared Detector Contract

PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 3 -- DRS Technologies Inc. has been awarded new contracts to deliver optically improved Standard Advanced Dewar Assembly II (SADA II) units for US Army armored vehicles.

SADA II is used in the NV-80 forward-looking infrared B-kit, also produced by the company, which supports the Army's horizontal technology integration program. The B-Kit provides infrared imaging capabilities for several ground-based military platforms, including M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks and M2A3 Bradley fighting vehicles.

The contracts, with a combined value of $3.6 million, were awarded to DRS by the Army's communications-electronics command in Fort Monmouth. Work will be performed by the DRS Infrared Technologies unit in Dallas, Texas. Product deliveries are expected to begin in March 2003.
