DRS Receives Infrared Sensor Orders

PARSIPPANY, N.J., March 21 -- DRS Technologies Inc. announced it has received several new orders to provide uncooled infrared sensors for use in various military and commercial applications.

The contracts, with a combined value of approximately $6.7 million, were awarded to DRS by various government and commercial organizations. Work will be accomplished by the company's DRS Infrared Technologies unit in Dallas, Texas. Product deliveries are expected to continue into DRS's fiscal 2004 first quarter beginning April 1, 2003.

For these contracts, DRS will manufacture, assemble and deliver standard uncooled infrared sensors, in addition to designing, developing and testing advanced uncooled infrared products, including prototype units.

"These new orders are evidence of our expansion in the growing uncooled thermal imaging systems market," said Fred L. Marion, president of DRS's Electro-Optical Systems Group. "This technology increasingly will play an important role in enhancing military operations. Greater use of lightweight, uncooled infrared sensors is expected to improve warfighting capabilities across several military platforms."
