Nortel Designs Barcelona Airport Network
BARCELONA, Spain, April 29 -- Barcelona Airport has installed a new communications network based on a Gigabit Ethernet solution from Nortel Networks to support its service and security needs. The new network, which has replaced the airport's previous ATM network, was provided under an agreement with Aeropuertos Espanoles y Navegacion Aerea, the Spanish Airport National Authority. Unisys implemented the network and is providing ongoing support and maintenance.
The network is based on Nortel Networks' enterprise data portfolio, including its BayStack Ethernet switches and Passport 8100 and 8600 multiservice switches. The network features distributed multilink trunking, a Nortel Networks innovation available on Passport 8600 that allows for 'fail-safe' connectivity to the network center.
