Indigo Wins Contract to Provide IR Sensors for Aircraft

Indigo Systems of Goleta, Calif., has received a contract from Baltimore-based Northrop Grumman Corp. Electronic Systems to develop megapixel-class IR integrated detective assemblies for the distributed aperture system of F-35 multifunction, supersonic stealth aircraft. The system will use several sensors, each containing the detective assemblies, mounted on the aircraft. The sensors will capture real-time imagery that can be processed into streaming video footage for display on the pilot's helmet-mounted video monitor.

The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, of which Northrop Grumman is a member, is a military procurement contract with an estimated value of more than $200 billion. It was established to provide more than 3000 of the F-35 aircraft to the US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, and to foreign partners.
