Evident Opens Plant to Produce Nanocrystals
Nanotechnology materials manufacturer Evident Technologies Inc. of Troy N.Y., has opened a facility in Watervliet, N.Y., that is equipped to produce kilogram quantities of EviDots quantum dot crystals on a weekly basis. The crystals, between 3 and 10 nm in size, are high-precision semiconductors that can be designed to meet the requirements of new fluorescent or photonic materials in applications such as LEDs, lasers, photovoltaics, biotechnology, and optical switches and transistors. They are engineered by control of the size, wavelength, absorption resonance and semiconductor bandgap.
