Three-Five Spinoff to Receive $22 Million

TEMPE, Ariz., May 16 -- Three-Five Systems Inc., a manufacturer of liquid crystal display and liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) display systems, announced it has applied with the Securities and Exchange Commission to name the spinoff of its LCoS microdisplay division Brillian Corp., and that it will provide Brillian with $22 million in initial funding. Brillian will be listed as "BRLC" on the Nasdaq National Market. The spinoff was announced in March and will take place this year.

Vincent F. Sollitto Jr. has been named president and CEO of Brillian Corp. and will join its board of directors, both effective June 1. He is the former president and CEO of Photon Dynamics; prior to that he was vice president and general manager at Fujitsu Microelectronics and held executive positions at Supercomputer Systems and IBM.

Brillian Corp. is named after Three-Five's Brillian line of LCoS microdisplays, which provide imagery for OEMs in the rear-projection and near-to-eye display markets.
