Brillian Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Three-Five Systems Inc. and a provider of microdisplay products, said its Brillian Z86D-3 SVGA microdisplay is powering the Shimadzu Dataglass2 high-resolution monocular head-mounted display (HMD). Shimadzu Corp., of Kyoro, Japan, will market the Dataglass2 for use with notebook PCs and test equipment devices such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. The HMD technology is being demonstrated this week at the Society for Information Display International Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition in Baltimore. . . . Advion BioSciences Inc., a provider of mass spectrometry services and products to the pharmaceutical industry, announced it has appointed Thomas Baillie, PhD, of the Merck Research Laboratories; Barry Karger, PhD, of the Barnett Institute at Northeastern University;, and John Yates PhD, of The Scripps Research Institute, to its new scientific advisory board. They will assist Advion with the development of its NanoMate and ESI Chip products for nanoelectrospray mass spectrometry applications. . . . Nikon Instruments Inc. announced it has appointed Scott Monroe, Kurt Neumann and John Parsons to positions in its microscopy division.
