Raytheon to Develop Optical Synthetic Imager
For the purpose of designing and demonstrating the synthetic aperture ladar tactical imager, Raytheon Co.'s Space and Airborne Systems, based in El Segundo, Calif., was awarded an $8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency's Advanced Technology Office. This imager for manned and unmanned airborne platforms will be designed to improve clarity of electro-optic wavelengths for imaging targets, partly by eliminating the glint associated with X-band synthetic aperture radar.
