Agilent Grant to Spur Taiwan Communications R&D

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 18 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. received a government grant this week from the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) to spur communications product research and development. The initiative is part of Agilent's Integrated Platform Service Project (IPSP), which helps Taiwan-based business ventures cooperate with international companies to bring state-of-the-art technologies to communication product design R&D houses in Taiwan or to co-develop technologies with foreign consulting teams.

The IPSP is one part of the Taiwan MOEA SiSoft initiative, which defines an RF system-on-chip (SOC) design and verification platform and provides consulting services to benefit the nation's communications product design industries. The Agilent initiative outlines a service architecture customized for Taiwan's RF SOC design industry, an RF SOC design flow and a training program for Taiwan's RF SOC personnel.

The platform consists of Agilent's Advanced Design System and RF Design Environment and the Agilent 93000 SOC Series test system. Combined, they constitute the recommended, integrated toolset for communications products and RF SOC design, Agilent said.

"Agilent is committed to supporting the SiSoft initiative by providing the best available design platform to Taiwanese business ventures," said Wayne Chan, vice president and general manager, Agilent Greater China. "We continue to support our customers by providing integrated EDA products and services that will help increase Taiwan's competitive presence in SOC research and development, and complement an already well-established semiconductor manufacturing industry."
