Lux Capital, a venture capital firm focused on nanotechnology, has published The Nanotech Report 2003, a research and investment guide for nanotechnology. Robert Paull, a Lux managing partner, said, "In recent years, nanotechnology has evolved from a science into today's budding industry. No longer just in advanced research labs, nanotech is in your home and on the marketplace. We're confident that nanotechnology represents the greatest investment opportunity of the next decade." Marking its entry into the European avionics sector, Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands announced at the Paris Air Show last week that it has received an order for its active-matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) technology from Smiths Aerospace (Cheltenham, England). Philips will deliver customized 4x4 AMLCD modules for integration into primary flight-control instrumentation as part of a commercial airline's cockpit upgrade program. Volume production and delivery will begin in July. . . . Avner Raz has been named CEO of Lumenis Ltd., a maker of laser and intense-pulsed light devices for medical applications.
