MKS Instruments Inc., a provider of products that measure, control, power and monitor critical parameters of semiconductor and other advanced manufacturing processes, has promoted Leo Berlinghieri to vice president and COO. MKS sells products for applications including flat panel displays, magnetic and optical storage media, medical imaging equipment, architectural glass and solar panels. . . . Confirma Inc., a provider of computer-aided-detection (CAD) systems for medical imaging applications, has received the Frost & Sullivan 2003 Entrepreneurial Company Award for the CAD industry. Confirma's first product, CADstream, is used to analyze breast magnetic resonance imaging studies.
