Company to Build Dual-Mode Camera
Sensors Unlimited Inc. of Princeton, N.J., will develop a combined imaging/rangefinding camera under the first phase of an advanced detector technology program contract funded by the US Department of Defense and managed by the US Air Force. It will develop a high-frame-rate, high-bandwidth, low-noise focal plane array and camera for active tracking, wavefront sensing, laser ranging, imaging and scoring. Staring and ranging will be possible with the single camera. In the first six months of the 33-month program, the company will demonstrate its technical approaches for the detector. If the technology is achieved by the third phase, the contract will total $3.7 million.
