FLIR Systems Inc. announced it has been awarded a $1 million contract from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for more than 100 ThermoVision Scout handheld cameras, to be used by state and local law enforcement agencies in antidrug efforts. The cameras enable law enforcement to view subjects through obstacles such as darkness and fog from up to 1200 feet away. Deliveries will begin in the fourth quarter of 2003. The purchase is part of the ONDCP Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center's Technology Transfer Program.   . . .   Kopin Corp. is providing microdisplays for Eyetop, described by its French manufacturer, Ingineo, as fashion sunglasses that display multimedia images. Eyetop integrates Kopin's 320C (0.24-inch diagonal) color CyberDisplay in one of the sidepieces, enabling the wearer view digital video "while maintaining visual contact with the world around them," the companies said. Kopin said CyberDisplay displays color and image quality comparable to that of a full-sized PC monitor, even in bright sunlight.   . . .    Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc. will launch its Tricam 3-D imaging system during a live telesurgery transmission to the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons' (SLS) 12th International Congress and Endo Expo 2003, to be held Sept. 22-25th in Las Vegas, from Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
