iCAD Inc., a developer of computer-aided detection (CAD) imaging technology for the detection of breast cancer, and Fischer Imaging Corp., a maker of medical imaging systems, have announced an expanded development and distribution agreement that will include iCAD's new iAD product, which will allow women to access CAD screenings of their mammograms at breast imaging centers where both traditional film and digital technologies are used.   . . .   Riber, a French manufacturer and supplier of front-end equipment for the compound semiconductor community, announced that the Department of Physics at the State University of New York at Buffalo has placed an order for a second MBE 32 P system to be installed in Professor Hong Luo's laboratory at the Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics, to grow photonic materials/structures and ferromagnetic heterostructures that are used in the development of new photonic and 'spintronic' components. Spintronics is an emerging field of technology in which not just the charge, but the spin, of electrons is exploited; it is expected to lead to improvements in electronic systems and devices, such as memory elements, logic elements, spin transistors and spin valves. The work is part of an information technology project funded by the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research and a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency/Office of Naval Research grant.
