Nufern Is Granted Amplification Technology License
To upgrade amplification of its fiber laser subassemblies, Nufern of East Granby, Conn., has acquired a patent license from Imra America Inc. titled "Single-Mode Amplifiers and Compressors Based on Multimode Fibers." The technology enables Nufern to offer its customers a broad range of enhanced optical fiber subassemblies, which are based on its large-mode-area double-clad fibers. The fibers are suitable for high-power and -energy fiber lasers and amplifiers in numerous industries. Imra, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., is a developer and manufacturer of ultrafast and short-pulsed fiber lasers.
