Newport Corp. has released the 2004 Newport Resource Guide, a 1300-page technical catalog of its optics, photonics instruments, opto-mechanics, motion control, spectroscopy and vibration control products. More than 10,000 items are listed, including 400 new products, such as photonic crystal fibers, spectrometers, motion systems and optical mounts. Newport said the guide, which also features tutorials, is primarily intended to support researchers, system builders and OEMs in spectroscopy, life sciences, aerospace, defense, semiconductor equipment, test and measurement, telecommunications, holography and photonics packaging. To obtain a copy, visit: www.newport.com/resourceguide2004, or call 800-222-6440.   . . .   Optiled Inc. announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the California Lighting Technology Center (CTLC), a new lighting innovation center based at the University of California, Davis, involving the California Energy Commission, the state's utility companies, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association and various other lighting companies. Optiled will work with the CLTC to identify emerging applications for LEDs and develop them to be used in residential and commercial settings. Optiled, of Irvine, Calif., makes lamps that combine high-precision optics with LED technologies.
