Timothy W. Baker has been named CFO of Cynosure Inc., a Chelmsford, Mass.-based maker of laser technology products for cosmetic and medical applications. Baker was formerly president and CFO of Photoelectron Corp., a developer of miniature x-ray technology for radiation therapy. . . . 3D Systems Corp., of Valencia, Calif., has installed two Vanguard HS selective laser sintering systems at the Renault F1 Team Advanced Digital Manufacturing Centre in Enstone, England, which will enable the team to directly manufacture end-use parts for the Renault R24 racecar. 3D Systems develops solid imaging technology to generate product concept models, functional prototypes, master patterns for tooling and end-use production parts for direct and indirect manufacturing. . . . CeramTec North America (CTNA) announced it has invested more than a half million dollars in new double disc grinding equipment, enabling it to grind thin ceramic substrates to flatness, parallelism and finish specifications. CTNA, a subsidiary of CeramTec AG, develops ultrathin ceramic products for automotive, electronic, electrical, structural, hermetic, functional and mechanical applications at its facilities in Laurens, S.C., and New Lebanon, N.Y.
