Kopin Corp., a manufacturer of microdisplays for consumer electronics, military systems and industrial applications, announced that
Victor Company of Japan (JVC) has selected its color filter CyberDisplay 180K viewfinder display for eight new JVC MiniDV digital camcorder models. Overseas retailers are already selling the camcorder models, which are expected to be available in the US in May.
. . . Implant Sciences Corp., of Wakefield, Mass., has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research Grant by the Environmental Protection Agency to develop a highly sensitive trace organic chemical detector based on its Quantum Sniffer explosives detection technology. The award covers the first phase of the grant and provides funding of approximately $70,000 for six months, with the potential for an additional award of up to $225,000. Implant Sciences is developing a commercial-ready version of its Quantum Sniffer for the US Navy for the detection of explosives. The company has also received a $1 million grant from the Transportation Security Administration, part of the Department of Homeland Security, to develop a benchtop explosives detection device.
