Companies Ally to Produce Ultrastable Light Sources

To develop ultrastable laser light sources based on stabilized cavity diode lasers, Sacher Lasertechnik GmbH of Marburg, Germany, and Triad Technology Inc. of Longmont, Colo., have formed a partnership. Under the agreement, Sacher will contribute expertise in tunable high-power external-cavity diode lasers and antireflection coatings, and Triad will provide electronic stabilization techniques and the technology for manufacturing reference gas cells. Ultrastable, high-power laser systems have applications in spectroscopy, frequency standards, and optical cooling and trapping.
