eMagin Corp., a Hopewell Junction, N.Y., manufacturer of active matrix organic light-emitting diode (OLED)-on-silicon displays, announced that DRS Technologies Inc. is using its SVGA+ microdisplay as a key element in a new handheld thermal imager used in military surveillance and detection applications. DRS will exhibit the equipment at Eurosatory, being held this week in Villepinte, France. . . . June 30 is the deadline to submit photomicrography examples to Nikon's 30th International Small World Competition, open to all microscopists, who may submit any type of light microscopy -- with no restrictions on specimens or techniques (brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast, interference contrast, fluorescence, confocal, deconvolution, mixed techniques, etc.) First prize is $3000 in Nikon photographic, scientific or industrial equipment and accessories.
