GSI Lumonics Inc. announced it has received an order for multiple WaferRepair M430 memory repair systems from Elpida Memory Inc., a semiconductor manufacturer in Japan. The systems will be used to enhance yield during the production of advanced DRAM devices. A portion of the order is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of this year. GSI Lumonics has been a key supplier of memory repair systems to Elpida since 2002. Elpida is a joint venture company formed by NEC and Hitachi. GSI Lumonics is a Billerica, Mass., supplier of precision motion control components, lasers and laser-based manufacturing systems to the medical, semiconductor, electronics and industrial markets. . . . Cognex Corp., a Natick, Mass., supplier of machine vision systems, announced it has received a single purchase order in excess of $2 million from Accretech, a Japanese manufacturer of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and precision measuring devices. The order, to be delivered in the next few months, is in addition to more than $7 million in previous orders this year from Accretech, which will integrate the systems into its wafer probers to perform alignment and inspection tasks on silicon wafers at its customers' facilities.
