Glimmerglass to Provide Switching Fabrics for Optical Networking

Glimmerglass Networks Inc. will supply its carrier-class Reflexion switching fabrics over the next two years to Lambda Opticalsystems of Reston, Va., under a $10 million contract. The Hayward, Calif., company previously delivered $1 million worth of the fabrics to Lambda, which incorporates them in its lNode all-optical switching products. The companies have collaborated to develop small, high-performance optical switching fabrics that are based on Glimmerglass' Brilliance microphotonics technology, which comprises three-dimensional microelectromechanical system architecture and connection-control software.
