Bookham Technology to Purchase Onetta
Bookham Technology plc of Abingdon, UK, has agreed to acquire Onetta Inc., a provider of optical amplifier modules and subsystems for communications networks. The Sunnyvale, Calif., company produces erbium-doped fiber amplifiers.
As part of the agreement, Bookham will acquire the issued share capital of Onetta in consideration for the issue of 27.6 million ordinary shares to that company's shareholders at the close of the transaction. In turn, Onetta's shareholders have agreed to discharge its liabilities of approximately $6 million.
Yan Sun, president and co-founder of Onetta, said that Bookham's strength in amplifiers and subsystems and its strong channels to market should ensure continued revenue growth for Onetta's product lines.
