Agilent Technologies Inc. announced that its miniature optocouplers have been incorporated into a new 80-inch plasma display panel (PDP) developed by Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. Optocouplers isolate sensitive circuitry from high-voltage surges by converting high-voltage electricity into light. Agilent said the space-saving design of Agilent's optocouplers allowed Samsung to integrate a large number of these devices into its PDP. The 80-inch PDP, which provides 1,920 x 1,080 high-density pixel resolution and is compatible with high-definition television (HDTV), is expected to begin shipping later this year.    . . .    Princeton Lightwave Inc., a Cranbury, N.J.-based supplier of specialized optical sources, detectors and detection subsystems, announced it has added switched, multiport capability to its line of optical channel monitors (OCMs) that it purchased from optical fiber producer OFS, the former optical fiber division of Lucent Technologies, in April. Princeton Lightwave said it has been shipping a four-port version of its OCM, which it developed and qualified last year, to a system equipment customer.    . . .    "Strategic Analysis of Global Gamma Camera Markets," a Frost & Sullivan analysis, forecasts a favorable long-term outlook for the nuclear gamma camera market, despite short-term constraints, which the company said is due to a lack of new imaging agents that could lead to new clinical applications and to competition from positron emission tomography.
