GSI Lumonics Inc. announced it has received an order, worth more than $6 million, from a US-based integrated circuit manufacturer for multiple WaferTrim laser trim systems. Laser trim is a tool used in the production of precision linear and mixed signal devices. The systems are expected to be delivered later this year. GSI Lumonics, which is based in Billerica, Mass., supplies precision motion control components, lasers and laser-based manufacturing systems to the medical, semiconductor, electronics and industrial markets.    . . .    Woburn, Mass.-based nanotechnology company Nantero Inc. and BAE Systems have begun a joint effort to evaluate the potential to develop carbon nanotube-based electronic devices for use in advanced defense and aerospace systems. The project will involve research and development of a variety of next-generation electronic devices that can be built using carbon nanotubes and Nantero's methods for the design and manufacture of nanotube-based electronics. Development will be carried out in BAE Systems' semiconductor fabrication facilities in Manassas, Va.
