BAE Systems Receives Contracts for Defense

BAE Systems of Farnborough, UK, was awarded a supply contract for Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids Systems for the Kuwait air force's Apache helicopters. The US Army is responsible for producing the Apaches for the foreign military sale.

Designed and manufactured by BAE, the systems can detect, identify, prioritize and counter threats to the helicopters. Operable in automatic, semiautomatic or manual modes, they incorporate a controller that uses information from multispectral sensors to produce a tactical picture.

In other news, BAE Systems Avionics Group of Basildon, UK, has received a £17 million contract for the supply of self-defense weapons stations for the Future Command and Liaison Vehicle program of Alvis Vickers Ltd. of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. The contract covers the supply of 326 stations and includes options for up to 400 more. As prime contractor, BAE will fabricate the stations by integrating its surveillance and target acquisition weapon sight, which uses uncooled thermal imaging technology, with AEI Ordnance Systems' Enforcer remote weapons system.
