Pentax Imaging Co. (Survey Division, US) and Pentax Industrial Instruments Co. Ltd. (Survey Division, Japan) have announced an exclusive agreement with Western Latitudes, a Centennial, Colo.-based maker of high-precision measuring and positioning systems, to distribute survey instruments via the Pentax dealer network and its own US dealer network and sales channels. Western Latitudes also distributes GPS survey/GIS products, data collection hardware and survey industry application and data collection software. Pentax Imaging Co., a Golden, Colo., division of Pentax of America Inc., and the current US distributor, said it will transfer its survey products to Western Latitudes in the coming weeks and that it will continue to distribute digital and film cameras, binoculars, spotting scopes, eyepieces, lenses, mobile printers, scanners, internet cameras and CCTV lenses. . . . Polatis, a Cambridge, England, developer of ultralow-loss optical switches, has moved to a larger facility. Its new address is 332 Cambridge Science Park, Cambridge, CB4 0BZ, UK; phone: (44-0) 1223-424200. . . . Zygo Corp., a Middlefield, Conn., optical metrology supplier, has named Youssef A. El-Mansy to its board of directors. El-Mansy is a retired corporate vice president and director of logic technology development for Intel Corp. and previously held engineering positions at Bell Northern Research in Canada. He is an IEEE Fellow and was a recipient of the 2004 IEEE Frederick Philips award for leadership in developing advanced logic technologies.
