DiOP Lands Contract for IR Objectives
Diversified Optical Products Inc. (DiOP) of Salem, N.H., has received a five-year, $9 million contract from BAE Systems of Lexington, Mass., to design and manufacture infrared objective lens assemblies for the Thermal Weapons Sight II program for the US Army. Although the initial order was for 11,700 units, that number could rise to 28,000, which would make the value of the contract more than $24 million over the five-year period.
DiOP also was awarded $4 million to speed research and development on an aircraft carrier surveillance protection system for the US Navy. The federal funding is under the Fiscal Year 2005 defense appropriations bill.
