Bio-Rad Microscopy Div. Moving to Zeiss Jena
Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH plans to transfer the core technologies of its recent acquisition, the Bio-Rad CellScience division of Hemel Hempstead, UK, to its headquarters in Jena, Germany. Although the company intends to consolidate its offerings by discontinuing production of the division's Radiance, Clonis and CellMap lines, it will continue to provide service and to upgrade existing CellScience products. Key technologies of the division, a supplier of confocal and multiphoton microscopy instrumentation, will be integrated into the Zeiss product platform.
Based in Thornwood, N.Y., Carl Zeiss SMT Inc. has opened the Electron Microscopy Applications Lab in Redwood City, Calif., to improve service to its West Coast customers.
