Schering AG, of Germany, has installed its computed tomography laser mammography (CTLM) system at the Charite Hospital in Berlin for use in optical mammography clinical trials to study the fluorescent imaging compound SF64. The companies have already installed systems and begun trials at the Robert Rossle Clinic at the University of Berlin and at the University of Muenster. The studies will help determine the benefits of using both absorption and fluorescent techniques to enhance the system's ability to detect breast cancer.
