CVI Laser to Supply Mounts to Ignition Facility
CVI Laser LLC of Albuquerque, N.M., has secured a contract valued at more than $1 million to supply mounts for laser optic assemblies to the National Ignition Facility operated by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. For the inertial confinement fusion facility's injection laser system, the company will furnish a variety of mounts custom-designed to reduce wavefront distortion. The contract runs through 2007.
In other business, CVI Laser has transferred its optical mount technology to its Albuquerque manufacturing plant, where it will leverage the capability into its optomechanical subassembly business. The mounts are created to hold optical lenses, filters, prisms, mirrors and other optical elements.
CVI Technical Optics Ltd. of Onchan, UK, has upgraded its optical coating facility with the installation of a Zygo GPI interferometer, and cleanroom flooring, ceiling coverings and air handling to Class 10,000, among other improvements.
