Palomar Technologies, of Vista, Calif., has announced an agreement to supply Fabrinet with complex assembly equipment to expand its capabilities in volume assembly of terminal-active optoelectronic components and precision microelectronic packaging. Fabrinet, an engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company specializing in the manufacture of complex assemblies, will add a Palomar LDA laser diode attach component assembly cell and a Model 8000 high-speed thermosonic ball and stitch wire bonder to its manufacturing facilities in Bangkok, Thailand. Palomar said it will also qualify and develop processes on existing and emerging packaging technologies, ultimately transferring the processes to Fabrinet for production engineering, volume manufacturing and supply chain management in Thailand.    . . .    Zygo Corp. announced today it has entered into a second-phase development contract with a major customer to continue developing metrology technology. The expected revenues of the contract are estimated to be approximately $25 million. Zygo said it expects a third contract for approximately $14 million to be signed next quarter for prototype production tools. Both contracts are expected to be completed by the middle of 2006.
