Flir to Supply Laser Designator Systems on US Navy Ships
Flir Systems Inc. of Portland, Ore., will deliver three Brite Star airborne thermal imaging laser designator systems under a fixed-price contract from Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., which has corporate headquarters in Los Angeles.
The units will be installed on Northrop Grumman's Fire Scout vertical-takeoff unmanned air vehicles as part of the system development and demonstration phase of the US Navy's littoral combat ship. It is estimated that follow-on production may require approximately 50 more systems, subject to future funding.
