Flir to Develop Maritime Surveillance System
The US Department of Defense has awarded Flir Systems Inc. of Portland, Ore., an indefinite delivery and quantity contract for an enhanced version of its 9-in. stabilized electro-optical surveillance system. Intended for maritime use, the thermal imaging technology is based upon the company's MarFlir/SeaFlir product line. The competitively awarded contract has resulted in an initial order of $328,893 for training and for the sample unit, with delivery expected in the first quarter of the year. The contract has a maximum value of $75 million for the delivery of up to 200 systems over five years.
