Jason Schneir, PhD, was appointed director of marketing at Imago Scientific Instruments, a Madison, Wis., developer of atomic-scale imaging technology. He will be responsible for domestic and international marketing activities and for Imago's LEAP atom probe microscope line. Schneir was formerly director of sales and marketing with KLA-Tencor Co.; he was previously an NIST scientist researching scanning probe microscope-based nanotechnology.    . . .    The Microscopy Society of America announced it selected David Larson, PhD, as the recipient of its 2005 Burton Medal, presented to an outstanding scientist under 40 for achievement in microscopy and microanalysis. Larson is a scientist for Imago Scientific, working on atom probe applications. He was previously a researcher for the Microscopy and Microanalysis Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and a thin-film development engineer at Seagate Technology.    . . .    Protiveris Inc., a Rockville, Md., developer of microcantilever technologies to facilitate biomolecular research, announced it has installed a VeriScan 3000 biosensor system at the University of Genoa, Italy. Roberto Raiteri, a professor of biophysical and electronic engineering at the university, will lead a collaborative effort to further biosensor science and technology using Protiveris's microcantilever-based products.
