Koheras A/S Buys Patents
OFS of Norcross, Ga., has licensed its air-clad microstructured fiber and optical fiber grating manufacturing patents to Koheras A/S of Birkerød, a subsidiary of NKT Holding A/S of Brøndby, both in Denmark. The fibers and gratings are used to develop optical fiber amplifiers and lasers for applications in industry, medicine and telecommunications. Both products also are being used to fabricate a variety of optical-technology-based sensor systems for use in industry, security, biomedicine and civil engineering. The microstructured fiber patent will enable Koheras to pursue its interest in becoming a broad industrial laser supplier.
