Heraeus Noblelight Makes Acquisition

To strengthen its position in analytical light sources, Heraeus Noblelight GmbH of Hanau, Germany, has acquired the Spectral Technologies division of IST Corp., which has operations in Horseheads, N.Y., and Cayey, Puerto Rico. IST supplies deuterium and hollow cathode ray tubes for analytical applications, such as UV spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography.

The strategic alliance of Heraeus Noblelight, its subsidiary Cathodeon Ltd. of Cambridge, UK, and the Spectral Technologies unit will offer customers a wider choice of products. The range includes Heraeus' FiberLight deuterium light source, IST's new D2K long-life deuterium lamp and Cathodeon's xenon flashlamps. The group also will provide customized deuterium lamps.
