Company Supplies Goggles to Italian Military
Sensor Technology Systems Inc. of Beavercreek, Ohio, has been awarded a $15.3 million contract from the Italian Ministry of Defense to supply 900 advanced AN/PVS-21 low-profile night-vision goggles for use in counterterrorism and paramilitary operations. The orders will be delivered from now through 2006. The contract follows an $8.9 million order in 2004 for approximately 500 of the devices.
The goggles have a binocular (or monocular) design that provides sensor fusion capabilities in diverse environments. An integrated head-up display presents video signals such as global positioning system data or the output of a thermal scope into the operator's night-vision scene.
