JDS Uniphase Purchases Lightwave Electronics

In California, JDS Uniphase Corp. of San Jose will purchase Lightwave Electronics Corp. of Mountain View for $65 million in an all-cash transaction. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second quarter. Lightwave provides mid- and high-power solid-state lasers for commercial markets, including materials processing, semiconductor fabrication and biotechnology.
